{"id":223554,"date":"2024-01-25T11:07:29","date_gmt":"2024-01-25T14:07:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cspabogados.com.ar\/?p=223554"},"modified":"2026-08-19T13:07:37","modified_gmt":"2026-08-19T16:07:37","slug":"customs-reforms-in-argentina","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cspabogados.com.ar\/en\/customs-reforms-in-argentina\/","title":{"rendered":"Customs reforms in Argentina"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"et_pb_section_0 et_pb_section et_section_regular et_block_section\"><div class=\"et_pb_row_0 et_pb_row et_block_row\"><div class=\"et_pb_column_0 et_pb_column et_pb_column_4_4 et-last-child et_block_column et_pb_css_mix_blend_mode_passthrough\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_0 et_pb_text et_pb_bg_layout_light et_pb_module et_flex_module\"><div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\"><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Emergency Decree N\u00b0 70\/2023 (hereinafter, the Decree) has introduced important amendments to the Customs Code (<em>C\u00f3digo Aduanero<\/em>) and to the customs systems and procedures, to make imports and customs clearance simpler and more expedited.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some of the reforms are:<\/p>\n<p>a) The former and inefficient Import System of the Republic of Argentina (<em>Sistema de Importaciones de la Rep\u00fablica Argentina<\/em>, or SIRA) has been replaced by the so-called Import Statistical System (<em>Sistema Estad\u00edstico de Importaciones<\/em>, or SEDI).<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The SEDI is a system of advanced information on import operations, allowing for an efficient analysis of the evolution of imports and the adoption of trade defense measures without hindering the productive sectors.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Through SEDI, those who import goods will anticipate the information related to their import destinations for consumption, and, once approved by all the agencies involved, it may be converted into one or more import dispatches.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It also eliminates the need to process licenses and permits to import;<\/p>\n<p>b) Suppression of the importer\/exporter registry: foreign trade may be conducted by any individual or entity holding a tax ID (<em>Clave \u00danica de Identificaci\u00f3n Tributaria<\/em>, or CUIT).;<\/p>\n<p>c) Any legal entity or individual may perform imports without the need to require a customs broker;<\/p>\n<p>d) Import clearance may be made up to 5 days prior to the arrival of the means of transport;<\/p>\n<p>e) When customs officials are investigating the potential existence of a customs offense, they cannot halt the clearing process and must release the goods against the filing of a collateral.
