In this opportunity of our future Commercial Guide to Doing Business, we will focus on branches in Argentina.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Branches are not legal entities separate from their parent companies and, therefore, no limitation of liability applies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The key features of branches in Argentina are:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>No capital allocation is requested (except for certain regulated industries, such as banking and insurance);<\/li>\n<li>They just need the appointment of an individual as their legal representative;<\/li>\n<li>Accounting records must be kept aside from those of their foreign parent companies<a href=\"#_ftn1\" name=\"_ftnref1\"><span>[1]<\/span><\/a>; and<\/li>\n<li>They cannot raise capital.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The General Inspectorate of Justice (<em>Inspecci\u00f3n General de Justicia<\/em>, or IGJ after its Spanish acronym) in the federal agency in charge of the Public Registry within the jurisdiction of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires and has established the list of requirements to grant registration to branches of foreign companies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mario E.
